Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana are in negotiations to join the cast of “The Losers,” Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures’ adaptation of the Vertigo/DC Comics book being directed by Sylvain White and written by Peter Berg and James Vanderbilt.
The two will join Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Columbus Short for the action film based on the 2003-2006 action comic by Andy Diggle and Jock. “The Losers” follows a Special Forces team betrayed by its handler, the mysterious Max, and left for dead during a mission. They regroup in the interest of vengeance against the CIA and its illegal interests, the opportunity to remove their names from a secret CIA death list, and find out exactly why they were targeted.
Elba (TV’s “The Wire”) will play a character named Roque, the group’s scarred and money-motivated second-in-command to Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Clay. Saldana will be Aisha, a cold-blooded loose cannon and vicious fighter. Saldana will be starring in the new “Star Trek” movie as Uhura, and is also going to be starring in James Cameron’s upcoming “Avatar.”
