Variety is reporting that CBS Films is in final negotiations with Dwayne Johnson to star in action-drama “Faster,” directed by Phil Joanou, who directEd “Gridiron Gang”, which also starred Johnson. Joe and Tony Gayton wrote the script.
Johnson will play an ex-con bent on avenging the death of his brother, who was murdered when the two were double-crossed during a botched heist 10 years ago.
“Faster” will be produced by Martin Shafer and Liz Glotzer of Castle Rock Entertainment, along with Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray, who teamed with Johnson on “The Game Plan” and the upcoming “Tooth Fairy.” Joe Gayton will also produce, and filming is set for August of 2009.
