MTV Splashpage is reporting that the big-screen adaptation of “Wake The Dead”, the nu-Frankenstein comic from “30 Days Of Night” creator Steve Niles has been officially put on the back burner despite hopes it could have been available for the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con.

Splashpage and Niles both confirm that the project which has Jay Russell attached to direct, which was going to go into production this year, is on hold to due WETA Workshops, who was going to be handling the special effects, being unable to do so due to Guilermo Del Toro’s production of “The Hobbit” also starting soon and WETA being unable to handle other projects.

There is no schedule or casting information about “Wake The Dead” so far.
