Marcus Nispel has been tapped by Nu Image/Millennium Films to direct “Conan.” Production on the remake of the 1982 film, based on Robert E. Howard’s classic pulp tales of the wandering barbarian, is set to start late this year in Bulgaria and South Africa.

The film is a co-production between Nu Image/Millennium and Lionsgate. Joe Gatta and Avi Lerner are producing with Fredrick Malmberg of Paradox, who hold the rights to Howard’s character and the franchise.

Plot: The epic tale of child sold into slavery who grows into a man who seeks revenge against the warlord who massacred his tribe.
