With director Robert Luketic announced back in June as working with producer Dino De Laurentiis to work on a reboot of the classic camp 1968 sci-fi flick “Barbarella”, Joe Gazzam has been announced as penning the script to the long-rumored remake.

A previous attempt at bringing the character of Barbarella, a space mercenary portrayed by Jane Fonda in the film who fell into various often hilarious sexual situations has Robert Rodriguez attached to direct, and had Rose McGowan starring in the titular role.

The character was first created in 1962 as a French adult-oriented comic strip before beginning standalone publication in 1964, created by Jean-Claude Forest.
