IESB is reporting that Steven Spielberg is in talks to take on the long-rumored and much-anticipated HALO movie, based on the popular video game franchise about the futuristic super-soldier known as Master Chief as he aides humanity in a war against the invading forces of the Covenant, a theocratic alliance of various aliens intent on taking Earth.
Spielberg is, according to the report, blown away by Stuart Beattie’s script of the adaptation, titled “HALO: The Fall of Reach” and looking for a project for the upcoming independent studio under Dreamworks and Walt Disney Pictures.

this is going to be really great if spielberg can get in depth enough. making a movie like this one is goin to take a very long time and trying to capture intesity without fing this thing up will make it that much harder. bu agin its going to be awesome. if hes smart he’ll intigrate the more vonerable odst and mariens.

I’m sorry, but the first Halo movie being based on Reach and NOT Halo: CE, THE FIRST GAME, is patently ridiculous. It’s just silly to me. First off, there is no Halo in Fall of Reach. Second off, Master Chief isn’t even the main character upcoming Halo: Reach. He’s part of the battle in the overall storyline, sure, but it’s not his story like the Battle of Installation 04 (the subject of Halo: Combat Evolved). Plus, to complete the story, they’d be making four movies instead of three. Weave the backstory into Halo: CE for the movie. You don’t need to make two separate movies.
Brandon, the movie was said to be based on “The Fall of Reach”, not “Halo: Reach”. “The Fall of Reach” is a book based on the game and “Halo Reach” is a game. Master Chief is the main character in the book, “The Fall of Reach”. The second book was the story of what happened in the Halo CE game. All the sites I read up on stated the movies, most likely a trilogy, would be an adaptation of all three books; Fall of Reach, The Food, and First Strike. So, yes I do agree a movie based on the Halo:Reach game would not make much sense, though my understanding is it is based on the books.
