The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that “Invincible” director Ericson Core is directing the third “XXX” movie, “XXX: The Return of Xander Cage” for the studio Columbia Pictures.

Neal Moritz and Joe Roth are producing, and Vin Diesel is returning to the role he originated in 2002’s “XXX” directed by Rob Cohen. John Brancato and Michael Ferris wrote the script for the film, which details Cage’s return to the world of espionage after an 8-year absence.

The studio aims to roll cameras on “Invincible” early next year.
