The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Owen Wilson has signed on to voice the rascally Great Dane “Marmaduke” for Fox’s adaptation of the long-running newspaper comic strip.

The film will follow a family named the Winslows who move from Kansas to Orange County, and their giant slobbering dog Marmaduke, who causes chaos wherever he goes.

The strip was created in 1954 by Brad Anderson about a giant Great Dane dog and his misadventures causing trouble throughout the neighborhood.

Judy Greer, Lee Pace and William H. Macy are cast in the film as humans, while Fergie, Emma Stone, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Steve Coogan, Damon Wayans, Marlon Wayans will be supplying voices for the CGI animal cast.

Tom Dey is directing, and John Davis is producing the family comedy, which has a

“Marmaduke” is set for a tentative June 2010 release.
