Bryan Cranston has joined the cast of the upcoming live-action/CGI Disney project “John Carter of Mars.” Andrew Stanton is directing the film, which is set to begin filming next week.
The story follows a Civil War veteran who mystically finds himself transported to the ancient history of the planet Mars, where he becomes embroiled in the wars raging between the various people of the planet, not all of which are friendly or even human-looking.
Cranston will be playing a Civil War colonel who comes into conflict with Carter.
Cranston joins Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Samantha Morton and Polly Walker in the adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs book series.
