Summit Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights to the Mandate comedy formerly titled “I’m With Cancer,” which is slated to start shooting later this month in Vancouver.
The studio also announced that Bryce Dallas Howard (“Terminator: Salvation”) has joined the project’s cast, alongside James McAvoy, Seth Rogen and Anna Kendrick (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse). Jonathan Levine will be directing the film, based on a script by Will Reiser.
McAvoy will be playing a man who learns that he has cancer and ends up successfully battling the disease over several years. The character is based on the real-life experiences of screenwriter Reiser, who won his own fight with cancer in his mid-20s.
