New Line starting up a reboot/new installation of the much-loved “Vacation” franchise, featuring the unlucky Griswold family.

Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley have been tapped to write the newest incarnation of the franchise, which first appeared in 1983 and starred Chevy Chase as the Griswold family patriarch Clark.

This newest film will no longer carry the “National Lampoon” credit, and is being described as an “update”, not a technical “reboot”. Variety is reporing that the story will focus on the now-grown up Rusty Griswold taking his own wife and kids to the infamous Wally World before it closes down forever.

Chase is expected to reprise his role as Clark Griswold, only now a grandfather.

David Dobkin is producing the project, with Sam Brown and Dave Neustadter overseeing for New Line. No other information has been released yet about the project.
