Kellen Lutz (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) has been announced as joining Relativity Media’s “War of the Gods,” a Greek myth fantasy movie directed by Tarsem Singh.
Universal is domestically distributing the project, formerly titled “Dawn Of War”. The film is about the conflict between the Greek gods such as Zeus and his kin against the elder giant gods that ruled over Greece before them, the Titans. The Titan king Hyperion, played by Mickey Rourke, is on a murderous rampage across Greece, which only the new gods and their mortal allies can stop.
Lutz is playing the sea god Poseidon, who joins the Athenian mortal hero Theseus (Henry Cavill) to fight against Hyperion and the Titans.
Jason Keller wrote the most recent draft of the script. Gianni Nunnari and Mark Canton are onboard as producers, alongside Relativity’s Ryan Kavanaugh.
Production begins in Montreal in April 2010.
