Perseus didn’t only overpower the evils unleashed by Hades this weekend, he conquered the entire country. Clash of the Titans took in a massive $61.4 million making in the top grossing Easter release of all time. The previous record holder didn’t even stand a chance. Back in 2006, Scary Movie 4 earned $40.2 million. But Clash‘s monstrous total wasn’t enough to take down Fast and Furious‘ $70.95 million haul, leaving it as the second biggest April earner.

I didn’t love Clash of the Titans, but did enjoy it. While I’d recommend the film to anyone looking for a little action, its enormous 3D earning is extremely unnerving. Of its $61.4 million, 52% of it came from inflated 3D ticket prices. For anyone still interested in checking out Clash, do not waste your money on the pricey experience. Clash in no way whatsoever benefits from the extra dimension and, in fact, will be more enjoyable the old school way, in 2D.

As for the rest of the competition, Tyler Perry is a winner yet again. Why Did I Get Married Too? took the #2 spot with $30.2 million. That’s nearly $10 million more than the 2007 original. How To Train Your Dragon came in third place with $29.2 boosting its grand total to $92.3 million. The fourth spot went to The Last Song with $16.2 million and the fifth to Alice in Wonderland with $8.3 million.
