Production Weekly strikes again. Just after tweeting the news that Stephen Graham is negotiating to join the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, PW’s little birdie delivered this message, “Colin Farrell in talks to play Marcus in Warner Bros. romantic comedy Something Borrowed filming in The Hamptons begins later this month.”

Something Borrowed is yet another wedding romantic comedy, but has the benefit of being based on well-liked sourced material, Emily Giffin’s novel of the same title. Ginnifer Goodwin leads as Rachel, a single lawyer living in New York with plans to attend her old pal Darcy’s wedding. Darcy happens to be tying the knot with one of Rachel’s law school buddies, Dex. The story begins with a steamy moment between Rachel and Dex, so clearly there’s some love triangle action going on here. Kate Hudson is on board to play the bride-to-be while John Egglesfield is the object of the leading ladies’ affections. John Krasinski is also on the roster and will play a friend of Rachel’s and, if all goes to plan, Collin’s character will be Marcus, Dex’s best friend.

So, we’re looking at just another cheesy wedding comedy, right? Wrong! Why should you care about Something Borrowed? Because, if it does well, Something Blue is coming next. According to The Playlist, most of the cast has already made arrangements for a second film. Guess what two books just moved to the top of my reading listing.

  1. These books have long been favorites of mine, as is Farrell. He is PERFECT for the role, btw. Giffin is a terrific writer and goes WAY beyond chick lit. She writes with emotion and any female who reads this books can relate.
