Logan Lerman is rumored to be the top choice to headline the Spider-Man reboot. Deja vu much? It seems as though all of our superhero rumors have expired, so we’re circling back to one that went unsolved. If the folks at HitFix are right, we’re about to put this one to rest as well. They have a source that is describing the situation as “almost 100% locked.”

HitFix’s source claims Lerman was up against Anton Yelchin, Jesse Eisenberg, Patrick Fugit and Johnny Simmons. There isn’t one name on that list that wouldn’t be a fine choice, but, of the bunch, Lerman most looks the part. He’s also proved himself in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. I don’t quite know if Percy Jackson‘s performance at the box office will earn it a sequel, but Lerman certainly earned respect. He’s naturally captivating on screen and makes for a perfect young hero.

But, before getting ahead of ourselves, there’s also a conflicting report over at Deadline. They claim to have spoken with the folks at Sony who wholly deny Lerman’s casting. In fact, they say Lerman isn’t on the list at all. Complicating matters further, Mike Fleming of Deadline notes that Drew McWeeny of HitFix’s reports are usually accurate and concludes his articles by saying, “We will have to stay tuned on this one.” So basically, we’re back to where we started.
