Toby Jones (“Infamous”) is in negotiations to play evil scientist Arnim Zola in the Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: The First Avenger”.
In the comics, Zola is a Nazi WW2 geneticist who created various monstrosities for the Germans, and even managed to elude death by transferring his own mind into a robotic body.
Jones would be joining Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan and Samuel L. Jackson in the big-screen adaptation about the flag-themed shield-wielding supersoldier from WW2. It will be directed by Joe Johnston, and starts filming in England this summer.
“Captain America: The First Avenger” is slated for release July 22nd, 2011 and will focus on the early days of Captain America. A sickly young man named Steve Rogers, intent on joining the fight against the Nazis in WW2, is drafted to be the subject of a project to create a super-soldier at the peak of human performance. When spies kill the scientist who could perform the process, Rogers goes from being the first of many to a living legend and symbol in the fight against injustice.
