After The Last Airbender we’re in need of a good CGI-infused fantasy film and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is really looking like it could be just that. Between the trailers, clips and behind the scenes featurettes, there’s a nice chunk of material available on the web and it’s all quite impressive. Now we’re adding another clip to the batch and a five-minute one at that.

The footage shows a young Dave Stutler’s (Jake Cherry) first encounter with the sorcerer Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage). When an unusual ring takes a liking to the boy, Balthazar knows Dave has the power to grow up to be a great sorcerer himself. The problem is, when Balthazar turns his back, Dave accidentally unleashes Balthazar’s nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina).

The mere fact that the action in this scene can distract me from Cage’s nauseating appearance certainly reflects the clip’s excellence, but I’m still partial to the Fantasia mop sequence. You can see that, this new 5-minute clip as well as a handful of other videos in HD over at Yahoo! Movies.
