It looks like Saw VII is getting a name change. Don’t worry; it’s not something atrocious like 5nal Destination, but that still doesn’t mean the new title is anything good. Lionsgate is calling the franchise’s seventh installment Saw 3D The Traps Come Alive.

There better be a good reason for this silly title. Shock Till You Drop suggests it’s being used to sensationalize director Kevin Greutert’s work, but I’m hoping it’s a little deeper than that. Perhaps the traps actually have some sort of living element to them – animals, insects or maybe even people. Even though the film doesn’t hit theaters until October 22nd, we’ll likely get a better picture of what to expect from Saw 3D soon because Lionsgate plans to show some footage from the film at its Comic-Con panel later this month.
