Keith Richards will again be appearing as Captain Jack Sparrow’s father, Captain Teague, in the upcoming ‘Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,’ sources reported on October 17 after several years of speculation. The Rolling Stones guitarist, who inspired Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Jack in the first three ‘Pirates’ movies, confirmed the casting during a recent interview with Reuters.

When Disney, the studio that released the previous ‘Pirates’ films and is again backing the next installment, needed to cast Jack’s father for the third movie, ‘At World’s End,’ they immediately turned to Richards. Depp has repeatedly discussed how Richards influenced his portrayal of Jack throughout the series, which helped Richards get the part.

While Reuters didn’t reveal how much of a part Richards will play in ‘On Stranger Tides,’ sources also reported that the movie will delve further into Jack’s past. So Disney felt it was important to bring Captain Teague back to help fill in the details.
