Newcomer Nicholas Braun has been cast in Kevin Smith’s new hockey comedy ‘Hit Somebody,’ based on the Warren Zevon song of the same name. The Smith-helmed film was originally set to star Seann William Scott. However, the ‘American Pie’ actor left when the director decided to focus on his fundamentalist horror movie ‘Red State’ first.

Braun, who is most known for his role as Cameron on the ABC Family show ’10 Things I Hate About You,’ will play the lead role of Buddy McKracken in ‘Hit Somebody.’ The actor is following in the steps of Scott, as both have previously worked with Smith. Braun appeared in ‘Red State,’ and Scott was originally offered the role of Buddy after he appeared in Smith’s comedy ‘Cop Out.’ ‘Hit Somebody’ is expected to start shooting sometime next year.
