While rumors about the new ‘Spider-Man’ reboot have been swirling for months, the latest casting rumor is, in fact, true; little-known actor Chris Zylka has been cast as Flash Tompson, Cinemablend.com is reporting. The actor, who has been making his way around teen-oriented television shows, including ‘Hannah Montana,’ ‘90210’ and ’10 Things I Hate About You,’ will be appearing as Peter Parker’s nemesis and secret fan.

Flash was last depicted by Joe Manganiello in the 2002 ‘Spider-Man,’ as well as it’s second sequel, ‘Spider-Man 3,’ in 2007. He appeared as Mary-Jane’s boyfriend in the original film, and often tormented Peter until he was defeated by the superhero in a fight. The ‘Spider-Man’ reboot is set to hit theaters July 3, 2012, and stars ‘The Social Network’ actor Andrew Garfield in the lead role.
