The character of Phil Dwyer, Bella Swan’s professional baseball-playing stepfather in the ‘Twilight’ series, has been recast for ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1’. Television actor Ty Olsson has replaced Mat Bushell, who mainly appeared in the first scene of ‘Twilight’ to help Bella move out of her mother’s Phoenix house to relocate to her father’s home in Forks.

Summit, the studio which is distributing the mega-hit series, confirmed that Olsson will appear in the upcoming ‘Break Dawn: Part I,’ which is set to hit theaters in November 2011. However, Phil’s only real part in the film will be to attend Bella and Edward’s wedding, as he still doesn’t know that Cullens are vampires.

Up until now, Olsson has been mainly remembered for starring as the robot sheriff Deputy Andy on the SyFy Channel’s original series ‘Eureka.’ He’s also appeared in other sci-fi shows, including ‘V,’ ‘Battlestar Galactica’ and ‘Defying Gravity.’
