According to CinemaBlend and Collider, there had been talk of funnyman Will Ferrell being in a Spanish comedy movie. Now it appears that there was some validity to the rumors. According to the sites, Diego Luna, Gael Garcia Bernal and Genesis Rodriguez are also involved in the comedy.

Now, we all know the storyline in which Ferrell comedies tend to take–a man-child with a heart of gold somehow triumphs over the odds. Quite a few times, these films turn out to be hilarious and awesome, like Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Occasionally, however, we get films like Semi-Pro and Step-Brothers that tend to be a bit too ridiculous. With that said, however, it seems like this Spanish comedy thing might turn out to be something that’ll be better than expected, especially since there’s talk that the actors are going to intentionally overact (Telenovelas, anyone?).

The film is said to follow the story of Armando Alvarez (Ferrell), who has fallen on tough times what with the failings of father’s ranch. Armando’s business-savvy brother Raul (Luna) and his fiancĂ©e Sonia (Rodriguez) show up and as Armando falls for Sonia and Raul’s shady dealings go south, the group finds themselves in a drug war with Onza (Bernal), the most powerful drug lord in the area.
