While Lady Gaga is known for raising controversy over her behavior and wardrobe choices, the singer is now raising debate over the sound of her new song, ‘Born This Way.’ When the single was released on February 11, celebrities and fans alike immediately took to Twitter to draw comparisons to several Madonna songs, including ‘Express Yourself’ and ‘Vogue,’ eonline.com is reporting.

Chris Daughtry tweeted that after listening to ‘Born This Way,’ the title song and first single off of Lady Gaga’s upcoming third album, he felt it sounded “a lot like ‘Express Yourself.’ A lotta peeps are saying the same thing…I thought I was crazy for a second.” Madonna’s brother, Chris Ciccone, even told Radar Online that he felt ‘Born This Way’ “sounds just like ‘Express Yourself-I can’t believe it to tell you the truth.”

But several other celebrities, including Paramore singer Hayley Williams, quickly came to Lady Gaga’s defense. Williams tweeted that she felt the song was liberating. While Lady Gaga has credited Madonna as being one of her musical influences, the 24-year-old singer hasn’t publicly commented on the controversy yet.
