Clearly it’s not easy breaking into the film industry, but Subway is doing their part to make sure the students of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts get some exposure through a web series contest called Subway Fresh Artists. The Subway franchisee advertising fund trust chief marketing officer Tony Pace, sums it up, “we are providing an opportunity for USC’s emerging filmmakers to create work and have it seen by an enormous audience. Additionally, our fans will get an early peek at the work of young talent and the next generation of film makers.”

Last year, the USC students were told to work with the concept that “every sandwich tells a story.” Over 50 teams ran with it and submitted projects that went before a panel of judges from Subway, USC and Content & Co, a Los Angeles-based brand studio. After narrowing it down to six semi-finalists, the panel was expected to select just one winner, however, there were two that stood out and both were declared the winners.

Do Whatever comes from Andy Landan, Giles Andrew and Alice Mathias and features an exhausted lawyer who opts to ditch his job, start his own company and take his computer genius roommate with him. The there’s R.J. Daniel Hanna, F. Brian Scolfield and Ian Ward’s Jeff and Ravi Fail History, a sci-fi production that follows the journey of a pair of buddies who take a ride in a time machine.

Both premiered on My Damn Channel on March 1st and will show at the IFC Crossroads House at SXSW on March 13th after which, both will receive distribution and promotion on MyDamnChannel.com and their partner sites, which include YouTube and metacafe. You can check them both out for yourself right now over at MyDamnChannel.com.
