Relative unknown screenwriter Josh Zetumer has been hired by MGM to write the script for the upcoming ‘RoboCop’ reboot, www.slashfilm.com is reporting. He’s expected to work closely with director Jose Padilha on the movie, which the studio hasn’t released much information about yet. However, the director is known for his gritty, dark style, and is expected to include that in the remake.

While Zetumer has previously worked on several high profile projects, including penning a draft of ‘Dune,’ scripting a fourth Bourne movie and writing the black script ‘infiltrator,’ he is yet to be officially credited on any film. But he is rumored to be working with Padilha on developing the characters and devising a setpeice.

The original 1987 science fiction-action film, which was directed by Paul Veerhoeven, was released to positive reviews and was a box-office success. Set in Detroit, the movie follows a police officer who comes back to life after being brutally murdered, and is recreated as a superhuman cyborg.
