A new poster for the movie “Super 8” has been released, according to ComingSoon. The poster shows a panoramic scene at night with people in silhouette looking on as one silhouetted person shoots a picture of a mysterious blue light with his camera. The one thing that really makes this poster is that the scene is turned vertically, making an already grabbing panoramic picture like subtly intense graphic design.

The film is already gaining buzz due to its writer/ director, J.J. Abrams, and it’s producer, veteran filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

The film, set in 1979 Ohio, is about a group of young friends who, while filming a movie, capture something extraterrestrial on their Super 8 camera after a horrific train accident.

The poster, as well as the trailer, keeps up the nostalgic feeling from the golden age of Spielberg movies like “Poltergeist”, “Jaws”, and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. At the very least, it’s not a reboot of another property. In any case, it looks like it could be a solid sci-fi story, one that people won’t mind paying money to see in the theaters.

“Super 8” stars Elle Fanning, Kyle Chandler, Amanda Michalka, Joel Courtney, Ryan Lee and Riley Griffiths, and is expected to be in theaters June 10, 2011.
