The Tribeca Film Festival has announced 44 of the 88 feature-length movies that will be presented as part of the World Narrative and Documentary Competition, the festival has announced. The narrative and documentary sections will serve as two different competitions. The festival will also feature three out-of-competition sections, including Cinemania, Spotlight and the new Viewpoints.

Overall, the Competition will feature movies from 32 different countries, and will have 43 World Premieres. The work of 99 directors will be featured, and 54 of them will be presenting their directorial debuts. Of choosing this year’s official selections, David Kwok, the Director of Program for the festival, said “…we had to make some incredibly difficult decisions, but we are excited about the quality, ingenuity, risk-taking and diversity of this year’s program.”

Among the movies to be featured in the World Narrative competition are the UK’s ‘Angels Crest,’ directed by Gaby Dellal; Germany’s ‘Black Butterflies,’ helmed by Paula van der Oust; and Spain’s ‘Blackthorn,’ directed by Mateo Gil. The Documentary competition will feature such films as America’s ‘The Bully Project,’ helmed by Lee Hirsch and Israel’s ‘Bombay Beach,’ directed by Alma Har’el.
