Shockya reported about the new “Angry Birds” game, “Angry Birds Rio”, about a month and a half ago. Now, we can report that the new game has been released.

Starting today, the game can be downloaded from the App Store for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, from the Mac App store for Mac computers, and from the Amazon Appstore for Android phones and devices.

This version of the popular game, created by Rovio, was developed in conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox in order to promote the studio’s new 3D-animated film, “Rio”.

To recap from the last article concerning “Angry Birds Rio”, the game will feature the birds, who have been captured and taken to Rio, where they will have to escape their kidnappers as well as save Blu (played Jesse Eisenberg in the film) and Jewel (played by Anne Hathaway).

The plot of the film “Rio” involves Blu, a domesticated macaw who has to go to Rio in order to repopulate with the female of his species. However, when he and said female, Jewel (Hathaway) are kidnapped, Blu’s mission to repopulate now becomes a mission to survive. The film, also starring Jamie Foxx, George Lopez, Will i Am, Leslie Mann, and Jermaine Clement, directed by Carlos Saldanha, and animated by Blue Sky Studios, the studio who also made the “Ice Age” films.

The film will be in theaters April 15; “Angry Birds Rio” players will be able to directly buy tickets for the film through the use of a new in-App ticketing feature via the film’s official website, Rio-themovie.com.
