“Transformers” fans: Leonard Nimoy is now in the next “Transformers” film, “Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon”! Rejoice! (If you’re a “Star Trek” fan, like me, this might make you a bit more curious about the film.)

According to Entertainment Weekly, Nimoy is set to give his voice to Sentinel Prime, Optimus Prime’s predecessor (it’s Sentinel Prime’s wrecked body that is seen in the trailer for the film). On Earth, he takes the form of a fire engine.

Now, for those of you who remember when Nimoy said last year that he was going to retire from acting, you might be scratching your heads. Apparently, the acting bug is too hard to shake. Besides, Nimoy is attached to the “Transformers” property just as much as “Star Trek”, having voiced Galvatron in the ’80s “Transformers” film, “Transformers: The Movie”.

In any case, it’s good seeing Nimoy back in movie news. Now if only he’ll do something else in “Star Trek”…Oh well, that might be a battle that can not be won.

“Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon” is set to crash-land in theaters July 1. Are you ready for some July fireworks, Autobot-style? Give your opinions, good or bad, below in the comments section.
