To be safe, I’m treating this story as a rumor, since no other major outlets have reported on it yet, but, according to the unofficial Facebook fan page for the hit BBC show “Sherlock”, filming for the second season will begin next month.

More than likely, this bit of news is probably true, seeing how, according to various sites, including the Guardian and Geeks of Doom, the series has not only been given a greenlight for the second season, but hints for the second season have already been released by “Sherlock” co-writer and co-developer Steven Moffat (“You can have three words to work from…Adler, Hound, Reichenbach. Those are your clues,” he said). Also, the second season is supposed to be on BBC this fall. So filming has to start sooner rather than later, and seeing how the shows also need to be edited, it would make sense that filming is about to start.

“Sherlock” is the retelling of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Victorian-era sleuth and his friend, Dr. John Watson, except this time, the stories have been transported to the 21st century. The show, also co-developed and written by Mark Gatiss, has become a success across the world, propelling actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who portrays Sherlock, to ultimate “leading man” status. Martin Freeman, who plays Watson, will be starring in “The Hobbit, pt. 1” as Bilbo Baggins.
