New “Sherlock” news! On April 26, Steven Moffat, one of the co-creators and writers of the series, has taken to twitpic to post a picture of the front door of 221 B Baker Street. Below the story, he wrote, “It begins.”

A few weeks ago, Shockya reported that the show would start filming again next month. This picture could mean that perhaps some pre-production has started. At any rate, it means that the crew has geared up for the filming of the next series.

Also a few weeks ago, co-creator/writer Mark Gatiss revealed what the three episodes of the next season will be about. “We knew after having a successful first run that the natural order would be to do the three most famous [stories], being a version of ‘A Scandal in Bohemia’, a version of ‘Hound of the Baskervilles’ and a version of ‘The Final Problem’,” he said. “There’s the question of how to go out on a cliffhanger and then the thematic things of the three stories, where we were trying to get to, and what Sherlock and John’s relationship is a little further on,” he said. “You can’t just go back to ‘You have no emotions.’ ‘I don’t care.’ You’ve got to move on somewhere and make sure the other characters have something of a journey too.”

“Sherlock” is the retelling of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Victorian-era sleuth and his friend, Dr. John Watson, except this time, the stories have been transported to the 21st century.

  1. You might want to follow director Paul McGuigan (paul_mcguigan) too. He tweeted (on the 15th) that they finished the first week of pre-production and there’s four more to go (so by now it’s only two more weeks of pre-production). And about location scouting in Wales.
