Here’s some interesting news: according to The Los Angeles Times, Twentieth Century Fox is developing a new “Zorro” film that will take the character out of his historical Mexico or California setting called “Zorro Reborn”.

“Zorro Reborn” will have the character living in the future. But not any future–he’ll be living in a desolate, dystopian future in which he’ll be the lone vigilante fueled by revenge in western story that has tinges of both “No Country for Old Men” and Sergio Leone films.

The movie will be directed by Rpin Suwannath, a pre-visualization specialist who has worked on films such as the “X-Men”, “The Chronicles of Narnia”, and “Matrix” films. The film is being written by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, the screenwriters for “Harker”, the reboot film for “Dracula”. The person envisioned to take on the title role in the film is a young actor, however, no names have been thrown out at this point.

I’m doing a bit of couch casting again and say that perhaps they could cast Diego González Boneta. He’s an up-and-comer, landing the lead role in the film adaption of “Rock of Ages”. He seems like he’d be a good fit.

Who would you like playing this new Zorro? Or do you hate the idea of this movie? Sound off below.
