According to Movieline, “Something Borrowed” producer Molly Smith is still hopeful that a sequel to “Something Borrowed”, “Something Blue”, will still make it to theaters even though the film is failing critically.

“It’s still a little early,” she told Movieline, “We think that we’re going to have great legs on this film and play for weeks and weeks to come. So it’s still a little early to make an official call on the sequel, but we’re still very hopeful. And we’re very proud of the weekend results.”

Even though the chick flick has Kate Hudson playing an unlikeable character, something against the grain for her, the film is only getting 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. In response to the bad reviews, Smith said, “The one thing I’ll say is that this movie has had amazing word of mouth, and obviously [judging from] CinemaScores [which has rated the film “B”, “B+” for females]–people who are seeing it are loving it, which makes us very happy and proud.”

“Something Blue” is the sequel to the book “Something Borrowed”, written by Emily Giffin. You can read more about the interview Smith had with Movieline here.
