J.J. Abrams set down with reporters for about 20 minutes worth of highly interesting talk about his film “Super 8” and also gave some updates on the progress of the “Star Trek” sequel.

In the interview, Abrams talked about how he kept the secrets surrounding “Super 8” out of the public eye. “I just feel like when you go see a trailer and the trailer’s over and you just feel like, ‘I’ve just seen the movie’..part of it was just about trying to allow people to have a sense of discovery, the way…in ’79, when I went to see a movie I didn’t feel like I’d seen every single detail of the film…people are force-fed so much stuff…trying to keep it surprising to the audience is part of the goal.”

He also talked about how he managed his group of children actors, many of whom are inexperienced with being on set.

You can watch the 20-minute video below this post. What do you think about Abrams’ approach to making the marketing of the film lo-fi in terms of not giving away too much? Do you wish other films did the same type of marketing? And what are your opinions on the upcoming “Star Trek” sequel? Sound off below.
