The official trailer and new posters have been released for the Sundance Selects film “TABLOID”, which will currently show at the Toronto International Film Festival. The documentary, directed by Errol Morris will be released in theaters July 15.

The plot of the film centers around the exploits of former Miss Wyoming, Joyce McKinney:

Thirty years before the antics of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears were regular gossip fodder, Miss Wyoming Joyce McKinney made her mark as a tabloid staple ne plus ultra. Morris follows the salacious adventures of this beauty queen with an IQ of 168 whose single-minded devotion to the man of her dreams leads her across the globe, into jail, and onto the front page. Joyce’s labyrinthine crusade for love takes her through a surreal world of kidnapping, manacled Mormons, risqué photography, magic underwear, and celestial sex-until her dream is finally realized in a cloning laboratory in Seoul, South Korea.

By turns funny, strange, and disturbing, TABLOID is a vivid portrayal of a phenomenally driven woman whose romantic obsessions and delusions catapult her over the edge into scandal sheet notoriety and an unimaginable life.

  1. I saw this dumb movie Tabloid.  DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IT.   It is stupid as Hell. My girl friend fell asleep.  It was just a bunch of tabloids slandering an innocent girl and a dishonest film-maker trying to make her look bad.  They really LIED on her.  I hope she sues!  The film-maker is a real jerk. It was obvious he had even pasted her head on somebody else’s naked body to falsely make it appear that she was a “nude model”,  when she wasn’t.    If this girl sues she will win a fortune from the film-maker and producers–who are pretty hard,  just like the nutty Mormons who appear to have started the false stories on her.  My heart goes out to her.  This is sheer pornography and not suitable for kids–OR adults!
