Relativity Media’s President of Worldwide Production, Tucker Tooley, and Edward R. Pressman, producer of “The Crow” franchise, announced today that attached Alex Tse, the scribe behind “Watchmen”, to write the remake of “The Crow”.

The remake will be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (“28 Weeks Later”), and the remake will be what the press release calls “a gritty reboot” of character Eric Draven, who returns from death as the gothic hero The Crow in order to avenge his and his wife’s murders. Bradley Cooper (“Limitless”) is attached to star as Draven/The Crow.

As stated above, Tse was responsible for the script behind “Watchmen” along with fellow screenwriter David Hayter. I’m sure there might be some that are crossing themselves right now because of how the film adaptation of “Watchmen” turned out, but don’t blame Tse for the mess; seeing how stylized Zack Snyder is a director, it’s hard to say where Snyder’s influence ends and Tse’s (and Hayter’s) begins.

The remake is based on the 1994 film adaptation of the comic book series and comic strip by James O’Barr. “The Crow” is set to be released to theaters sometime in 2013.

  1. Brandon Lee was perfect for his role. There have been numerous sequels
and a short-lived television series, but they’ve all failed to replicate
the success of the original. What makes anyone think a re-make will be
anything different, especially with Bradley Cooper, a comedian, as Eric
Draven. I don’t see a need in a re-make of this already great film. All
everyone is doing lately is making re-makes or sequels, and to be honest
almost all of them suck. The only way I can see anyone thinking Bradley
Cooper can do it is because he is known for his role in the hangover..
key word he is KNOWN. I do not see a reason as to why he would be placed
for such a serious and deep role when he really isn’t the type we see.
Yes, it is important fan actor to branch out, but not on this type of
film. Some movies don’t need to be re-done, especially one such as The
Crow, where an amazing actor and person tragically died on the set of
the movie. Rest in Peace Brandon Lee, THE Eric Draven.

  3. I totally agree with you on this they should NOT REMAKE  the crow .. its perfect the way it was. and no one else can be the crow  like you said they have tried it and failed.i believe that if they do remake this that they will will fail badly no way in hell can cooper pull off a role as dark as draven/the crow i mean there’s only ONE crow and he died on the set of the first one…

  4. Exactly, only one Crow and he died on the set. I am amazed that anyone even wants to re-do it.. Seriously Brandon Lee died filming the movie, it is his. He literally gave his life to it. Trying to put Cooper as his part is like an insult.. He is a comedian, and that’s all people will think of him. I don’t see him pulling off this movie at all, its going to ruin it. Yes, I know they want to give The Crow a chance to become big because it never really did, but they shouldn’t do it where its going to be less genius than the original because Brandon Lee’s The Crow was genius and remaking in my opinion will in fact ruin it.

All people are really seeing is technology can make it look better and a known actor will give it more of a chance to flourish.. but it was perfect and is perfect as is.. it may not have the best effects but it sure as hell was able to deliver the message and meaning. The movie was able to make the audience feel, it doesn’t need anything else.
