Transformers mania has currently taken over Hollywood! Yesterday, the movie premiered in Moscow, and today, Paramount has released a “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” app!

The app, “T3: Defend the Earth”, lets iPhone and iPod Touch users transform conventional posters into an augmented reality experience:

[The app] allows iPhone and iPod touch users to locate the closest theaters that have these exclusive interactive posters on display. Upon activation, the poster comes to life via the app and consumers can participate in an immersive game play on their iPhone or iPod touch via the poster’s first-person view of OPTIMUS PRIME. iPhone and iPod touch users simply download the TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON App, and they are able to play the game wherever they are in the world and compete on a global level for the top spot. The interactive movie posters will be located in over 250 IMAX(R) and AMC theaters across the country.

Interesting, y/n? From my experience, augmented reality can be a fun experience, so this app might be something some of you are interested in trying. You can get the app from the Apple App Store or the official site for the app. You can also learn more about the film by going to the official site, Facebook, and Twitter.

What do you think, though? Will you get this app? What other apps would you like to see from “Transformers: Dark of the Moon”? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
