Last week, we touched a little bit on “Bad Teacher” in the “FilmFan” recap, but for those who don’t know about the film, “Bad Teacher” follows a, well…bad teacher Elizabeth (Cameron Diaz) who is looking for her Mr. Right after being stood up. She tries to snag a rich dweeb substitute Scott Delacorte (Justin Timberlake), but gym teacher Russell Gettis (Jason Segel) has eyes for her.

The film has a mediocre rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and the main consensus from critics is that “Bad Teacher” isn’t as awesome as “Bad Santa”; it goes for the jugular, but it fails to hit. Instead, it lingers around in middle-of-the-road territory. Also part of the consensus is that while Diaz dives head-first into her role, her character is hardly redeemable, and the film does not give enough to justify the audience feeling for her.

Another thing said by critics is that Timberlake, a very good comedic actor if his stints on “Saturday Night Live” prove anything, does not have enough to do, but still tries with what he’s given. Overall, the film just wasn’t outrageous enough for most.

But what do you think about the film? If you’ve seen it, how did you react to it? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
