A possible synopsis for director Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi movie ‘Prometheus,’ which up to this point has been shroud in secrecy over whether or not it will serve as a prequel to ‘Alien,’ has been released, Collider is reporting. The synopsis hints that ‘Prometheus’ may present some origin details for the ‘Alien’ franchise while serving as its own stand-alone film at the same time.

‘Prometheus’ will reportedly follow an archeological dig in Africa that unveils evidence that humans were genetically engineered by an advanced alien race. The alien race, known as “Alien Gods,” also made Earth habitable for humans to live. Among the finds of the dig are the coordinates to Paradise, the Alien God’s home world.

Several months after the dig, the Weyland Corp launches the spaceship Prometheus and its crew into space to make the first contact with Paradise. The Prometheus is able to enter the Zeta Riticuli star system, due to new faster than light travel. Once the crew lands on Paradise, the crew is greeted by their alien makers. The humans, who the Alien Gods are proud of for reaching such high levels of intelligence, are then transported deeper into space.

The Alien Gods reward the humans for their intelligence by sharing their bio-based technologies. One Prometheus crew member becomes so greedy, however, that he steals the code to Terraforming, the technology that oversees the Gods’ powers, to make humans equal to the gods.

‘Prometheus’ opens on June 8, 2012, in 3D. The film stars Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba and Noomi Rapace.
