Digital Spy via MTV News has a report on the type of girl Shia LeBeouf wanted for “Transformers: Dark of the Moon.” According to the site, LeBeouf asked “Transformers” director Michael Bay if the replacement girl for Megan Fox could be a more of the library-type of girl.

“I remember pitching to Mike, ‘Maybe we should go with a more bookish type,'” he said. “I remember him saying to me, ‘Shia, we’re not going with bookish anything. This is a summer movie–we need a summer girl.”

I suppose a Velma-type of girl could bring down a fast-paced action film, but that’s not really a fair statement, since bookish guys get to headline action films. In Jurassic Park, everyone’s bookish, with Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcom being the most bookish out of all of them. And the females–Ariana Richard’s Lex and Laura Dern’s Dr. Sattler–were also very smart people, and they had their fair share of action scenes. So in short, I think it would’ve been a nice change of pace to have a studious person helping Sam Witwicky fight the Decepticons. Things could get done faster, at any rate, because Sam would have someone cataloging facts and figures.

What do you think, though? Sound off in the comments section below.

  1. AmeriKKKan Mass-Media is no more Enlightened nor Noble than any Shiar Law-abiding Taliban Assassin is.  Certainly not in it’s treatment of Women; aka HALF-THE-FUCKIN’-SPECIE!!!

  2. Shia was right. Bookish girls can be as sexy as they get, if that was Bays problem. Just think about Rachael Weisz in “the Mummy”- yummi!
