Idina Menzel is in final negotiations to reprise her role of Shelby Corcoran in 10 to 12 episodes of ‘Glee’s upcoming third season, AOL TV is reporting. Shelby is the biological mother of Lea Michele’s character, Rachel Berry, and is the coach of New Direction’s rival singing group Vocal Adrenaline.
Shelby is expected to return to Lima after adopting Puck and Quinn’s baby, Beth, and spending time in New York. She’ll become a new teacher at McKinley High School, which not only causes trouble for Rachel, but also for her former flame Will, played by Matthew Morrison.
The news of Menzel’s return comes after ‘Glee’ creator Ryan Murphy said he didn’t want to feature any guest stars during the third season. But he then said that he’s excited she will be returning to the show, as everyone missed her last year.
