There was another movie to come out on “Harry Potter” weekend aside from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows–Part Two.” Disney’s 2D animated film “Winnie the Pooh” dared to take on The Boy who Lived at the box office, and, at least for critics, was a success.

The film received a 91% at Rotten Tomatoes, but audiences only gave the film a 76%. I’d wager the audience score was lower because of the short length of the film–the film’s barely over an hour–and, well, it was “Harry Potter” weekend. Here’s what the critics thought:

“It’s a pleasure to sink into an animated family movie from Disney that radiates charm with a gentleness that seems damn near revolutionary.”–Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

“Like its pot-bellied little protagonist, the new Disney film, Winnie the Pooh, is faithful, familiar and, with a running time of little more than an hour, short.”–Liam Lacey, The Globe and Mail

“One would have to have a heart of cold temperament to find much–if anything–wrong with the animated adventure ‘Winnie the Pooh.'”–Lisa Kennedy, The Denver Post
