Right when we got our hands on our first Fall Out Boy CD, we were hooked. It was just as hard for us to disengage our eyes from Pete Wentz’s good looks as it was for us to ignore Patrick Stump’s unusual punk rock vocals. Now, all our attention can be directed to Stump, since he will be dropping a debut solo album, ‘Soul Punk’.

If you thought this album was just going to be an extension of the alternative sound of Fall Out Boy, we must inform you that you thought wrong. All the proof we need can be hear in the album’s first single, “This City,” which features Lupe Fiasco. With a pop sound basis throughout the track, Stump and Lupe Fiasco spice up the upbeat tempo with punk and rap elements. Stump’s vocals fit so ideally with the pop beat that we are in awe of just how much his vocals resemble that of the late Michael Jackson. His range has no limit and this track allows him to push through his Fall Out Boy comfort zone. There are very few artists that can break away from their renowned groups and become more successful. It is time for Beyonce and Justin Timberlake to step aside because we have a new solo artist in town, Mr. Patrick Stump.
