To go from talking about the awesomeness that is “The Rise of the Planet of the Apes” to a film like “The Change-Up” is…interesting. “The Change-Up” has received a 22% critical rating and a 63% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes; let’s see why some of the critics felt less than satisfied with this movie:

“This comedy doesn’t work very well…half the time you’re confused about who’s inhabiting whom.”–David Denby, The New Yorker

“If you’re sitting there patiently waiting for me to tell you something about this movie, like whether or not it’s any good, let me frustrate you further by insisting that that depends on what you mean…It’s occassionally funny and a lot painful.”–Andrew O’Hehir, Salon.com

“Brazen desperation chokes the life out of every screen element. It’s a lousy, vacant, Hostile creation.” Brian Orndorf, BrianOrndorf.com

“[L]et’s just say that The Change-Up tries much too hard to be an audience-pleaser, when the manic humor minus the multiple grossout bodily emission detours would have sufficed quite well on its own. Which eventually feels as a film more derivative than not, of its narrative origins located somewhere in the perversely revisited realm of possibly Twain’s ‘Prince And The Pooper.'”–Prairie Miller, NewsBlaze
