According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate is getting ready to launch a network anchored by Tyler Perry.

Lionsgate’s CEO John Feltheimer told financial analysts Wednesday that they are looking forward to the launch. “Tyler is one of those rare resources that one could launch a channel with,” he said. “We have a lot of options if we choose to go down that path.” Feltheimer also said that Perry is a “rare piece of talent that can bring an audience anywhere.”

A Tyler Perry network could come about one of two ways, said Feltheimer. One way is rebranding an existing not-fully distributed channel, or use a “nesting strategy” with a channel it already has, like the TV Guide Channel.

Since Oprah Winfrey was mentioned in the article due to her channel, the OWN Network, one has to wonder how a Tyler Perry network would 1) stand up to Oprah’s network and 2) what kind of shows it’ll have. I have personally never been a big Tyler Perry watcher, so I don’t know what kind of shows he could have. But if you are a fan of Tyler Perry and are excited about this news story, give us your opinions on what you think the network could be like.
