Our friends at TVLine have posted an article on the shows that are up for Emmys this year. Writer Michael Slezak has given the rundown on the top contenders for the coveted TV award.

The front-runner is the perennial favorite “The Amazing Race,” which has won for seven years in a row. Bravo’s “Top Chef” won the Emmy last year, but there are several others that have yet to do what “Top Chef” has done, which is beat the amazing “Amazing Race” in the awards race.

FOX’s reality show “American Idol” have been nominated for nine years without winning an award, thereby becoming the Susan Lucci of reality shows. FOX also has “So You Think You Can Dance” entering the race and could have a very good chance of winning. Actually, I’m surprised it hasn’t been nominated before, considering how well the dancing and choreography is on the show (I know the individual choreographers have won awards for their work on the show, but the show as a whole needs an accolade at some point in time).

Other Susan Luccis are Lifetime’s “Project Runway” (seventh year being nominated), and ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars (sixth year being nominated).

Who do I think will win? I honestly don’t know. I can tell you that most of the shows are my favorite shows to watch, and that “The Amazing Race” have deserved all of the accolades they have received. I don’t think any other show this season can come close to “Race” again except possibly “Dance” and maybe “Chef.” The recent/current seasons of “Idol,” “Stars” and “Runway” are great, but I don’t know if they’re “Emmy” great, especially if the season “Runway” has been nominated for is the Gretchen-Mondo season. I still have bruises.

Who do you think will win the Emmys? Leave your comments below, and make sure to watch the Emmys on Sept. 18 on FOX.
