Towards the end of the Pixar Animation portion of the presentation earlier today, fans were treated to some surprising news. No, we’re not talking about the part where every single person in the audience got a cupcake that looked like the star ball from Pixar. We’re talking about the announcements of two more Pixar animated films that will be following “Monsters University” once that film comes out in 2013.

Chief creative officer John Lasseter introduced to the audience “Up” co-director Bob Peterson and “The Incredibles” producer John Walker. Peterson did the voice of a couple of memorable Pixar animated characters that he’s done during the years, including the adorable labrador dog Doug from “Up.” Afterwards they announced that they would be making “The Untitled Pixar Dinosaur Movie,” promising us that they would get a real title fairly soon. The film is scheduled to be released around the holiday season of 2013. They described the story as “what happens is the big asteroid that wipes out the dinosaurs missed the Earth and the dinosaurs continued to live?” They continued on, giving us a glimpse at the concept art for the dinosaur film which showed a little kid on top of the head of what only appears to be a brontosaurus. For some reason the picture looked so warm, so filled with friendship in a way that it started to remind me of “Calvin and Hobbes” (but that’s just me).

Afterwards they brought out “Monsters Inc.” and “Up” co-director Pete Docter along with “Up” producer Jonas Rivera. They talked about how we always imagine what it looks like inside our mind, how everything works. Then they unveiled that they would be making “The Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside The Mind.” They also promised an actual title for audiences as time goes along. The untitled project is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2014.

It may not be any sort of “Incredibles 2” announcement, but at least Pixar is prying themselves away temporarily from the sequel-fever that’s been taking hold of them for awhile. Continue reading ShockYa for more coverage from the D23 Expo!
