Here’s an exclusive scoop from Deadline–Disney has fired Marvel’s marketing department. Dana Precious, EVP of Worldwide Marketing for Marvel’s LA Studios, Jeffery Stewart, VP of Worldwide Marketing and Jodi Miller, Manager of Worldwide Marketing. According to the site, the news is supposed to be hush-hush.

According to the site, the department was told June 24 by Marvel Studios’ EVP Operations Rob Steffens, that there would be no firing by Disney, period.

Officially, Disney is saying that Marvel’s marketing department was let go because Disney will take over the function of marketing Marvel films with the releases of “The Avengers” and future Marvel films. Marvel will also bring in a person in a “project management role.”

According to the article, the firings were probably done in order to get of redundant jobs between the two marketing departments, but if that’s the case, why say no one will get fired?

Time will tell if the firings were necessary or if Disney reneged on their promise. You can read the full report at Deadline.

Marvel was bought by Disney 2009. “Thor” and “Captain America” are the first Marvel movies released under the Disney/Marvel label.
