Even though it has officially come to an end, we constantly talk about the 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival as if we attended it a day ago. Being metal fan “newbies”, we were blown away by the metal bands unbelievable instrumental rifts and powerful vocals. The musical skills of these bands are there, but so is their undying passion for music. Machine Head stands high on this metal pedestal that we have built over the summer months.
The Grammy nominated and the Album of the Decade winning Metal Giants are gearing up to release their newest album “Unto The Locust” on September 27th in the U.S. via Roadrunner Records. At the Mayhem festival, we got the low down on Machine Head’s upcoming album and shows from lead guitarist, Phil Demmel. You can hear and watch Machine Head discuss “Unto The Locust” even more thoroughly on their brand new behind-the-scenes video that the group posted on their official YouTube page. The video is the third in the series and follows the metal band as they record “Unto The Locust”. The clip also features never-before-heard snippets of new songs!
The Machine Head news just keeps on coming in this post. The band recently announced their first headlining tour of South America with the legendary Sepultura along for support with dates in Brazil, Argentina and Chile. Sepultura are also in full-on tour mode in support of their newest album, “Kairos”. So, this tour in October will just be overflowing with new metal tunes that would be a shame to miss out on.
Following the South America tour, Machine head will head to the UK and Europe for their headlining shows on ‘The Eighth Plague Tour’ with Bring Me The Horizon, Devildriver and Darkest Hour. Machine Head will perform as the headlining slot for the first time at the legendary Webley Arena in London, England in support of “Unto The Locust”.
For us, Europe and South America are bit far from where we live, but Machine Head is definitely the band that can get us overseas.
